Over the last six months ColaLife has worked with others, and with Leith Greenslade (JustActions) in particular, to establish the ORS/Zinc Co-pack Alliance (ORSZCA) to advocate for the new WHO recommendation that ORS and Zinc should be co-packaged for the treatment of diarrhoea. This represents ColaLife’s last push to globalise our impact. Regular readers will know that ColaLife played leading role in securing this new WHO co-packaging recommendation – see Success: WHO adds co-packaged ORS and Zinc to its Essential Medicines List – however, history has shown us that a new WHO recommendation in itself will achieve very little and that a strong advocacy effort will be required to ensure uptake by national governments. ORSZCA aims to be that strong advocacy effort and will be where ColaLife applies the majority of its resources moving forward.
