We have just received the very sad news that Guy Fraser has died of COVID. As we moved from the trial in Zambia to the scale-up we wanted to localise all the components of Kit Yamoyo. Pharmanova had been making ORS for a number of years and during the trial they started their own production of Zinc – this replaced the Zinc we imported from Tanzania for the trial. The remaining challenge was the small bar of hand soap.
There was only one manufacturer of soap in Zambia – Trade Kings – but they didn’t produce small bars. At the time Guy was Trade Kings Marketing Manager. A lovely man, he pulled out all the stops and persuaded the management team at Trade Kings to start production of 22g bar of soap. This wouldn’t have advanced Guy’s career at all but it made the contents of Kit Yamoyo 100% Zambian.
ColaLife will always remember Guy and be forever grateful for his support to transform access to ORS and Zinc for the treatment of diarrhoea in Zambia. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
