[20-Mar-2023 Addendum: the links below to the WHO website no longer work. Our application can now be downloaded here. The summary of the WHO Secretariat’s decision to include co-packaged ORS and zinc is available here.]
Our application to get co-packaged ORS and zinc on the WHO Model Essential Medicines List for Children (EMLc) is now open for comments on the WHO website here.
Our application can be downloaded from this link and comments, including letters of support, should be sent to: emlsecretariat@who.int.
Our application has eleven letters of support so far from government ministries (Ghana and Senegal), academic institutions, NGOs, development funders, the private sector and UNICEF.
If you are able to submit a letter of support we would be grateful if you would do so.
The 22nd WHO Expert Committee on Selection and Use of Essential Medicines will meet in Geneva, Switzerland from 1 to 5 April 2019 to consider applications. Their decision is expected in Jul-19.
A positive outcome would be ‘system changing’ for our work and greatly facilitate the spread of the evidence and experience from Zambia to other countries.
