A conversation with Julian Dobson

November 17, 2009 by Simon Berry

Julian Dobson

I first met Julian when New Start Magazine was a twinkle in the eye around 10 years ago. Julian co-founded New Start Magazine with Kath Acres and Jamie Veitch. Kath was one of the first people I turned to when setting up the board of ruralnet|uk and she served as a trustee.

So it was great to meet up with Julian at Chain Reaction last week (12/11/09) and have this ColaLife conversation:

Below is an explanation of the AidPod mentioned in the interview.

These are a fantastic idea! Is there going to be a re-use for the pods? Otherwise we seem to be creating another problem of rubbish if they’re not biodegradable.
I understand there is a mechanism to return them, but is that going to happen in practice? Can we think of a way they can be useful to the locals having got them there? eg air-tight to store things in or or carry fresh water? Then they have a double life to the people they reach.
    Keep up the good work
